We’re doing research into how to encourage the distribution and use by consumers of a client’s marketing materials. One way to do this would seem to be to provide permission to take and use these assets within a legal framework; Creative Commons. Looking around for more information I was directed from the CC site to this very clear and simple guide to what CC is and means. Its written from an education perspective, but then isn’t that what we’re trying to do?
By the way - the logo above is taken from Flickr where users are now able to designate their images as availble for public use under Creative Commons licenses, like this one below. There is also a search function on the Creative Commons site that allows you to search across the Net for CC licensed assets.
