So you’re McDonalds’ advertising agency: you have money, resources and one of the finest creative teams money can buy. So what do you do when you want ideas for a new TV advert? Look on YouTube of course! That’s right McDonalds’ latest advert is actually a year old YouTube post of two numb-nuts rapping about their love for McNuggets. As the Chicago Tribune reports this video is the latest bit of UGC to break out and become a mainstream success. The video, put together by Fernando Sosa (26) and Matt Malinsky (35) as a joke, has been picked up by Arnold (a Boston-based advertising company under contract with McDonalds) and is currently being played out on New York TV as a bona fide advert. I wonder how long it’ll take before we see a number of would-be-advertisers using YouTube to try and kick-start a non-existent career in advertising…
