Jeff Pulver has started a game of virtual tag. Once tagged you need to write five things about yourself that no one knows and then nominate another five people. Tom from VCCP has tagged RMM to get his numbers up - fair play but the other two have gone dark due to holiday exile so I’ll have to kick this off.
Five things you didn’t know about me
1. I used to play the trumpet at school. I then carried the damn thing with me round the world to live with me in Singapore, New York, Sydney, back to Brisbane and its now joined me in London. Haven’t played it once. Although I am planning a new year’s resolution to ‘play in a band’ somewhere at some point on a stage. You’ve been warned.
2. I studied architecture and graduated with honours. It was the most satisfying six years of my life with the exception of the past few months of working wth Mat and Iain on the situationist experiment that is RMM.
3. I played rugby for 13 years and never scored a try. From primary school, to secondary and then on to Uni. Not a single try. My excuse was that I was a mis-diagniosed prop forward. Tall and heavy as a kid I kept fronting up to the selections at the start of each season and when we were asked what we played last year I was one of the only kids who had played prop. So another year, and other season of knocking my head and spending winter afternoons forlornly dragging my arse from one scrum to another.
4. I was heavily involved in student politics. I started an independent party by roping in a bunch of apolitical mates from different faculties and atually won a seat on the executive. I spent the year running the Union with a group of really nice people from the Socialist Workers’ Party. I’m not sure they knew what to make of me but we enjoyed a year of renaming the student theatre the Che Guevara Performance Centre and irritating the overly earnest Young Labor tools on campus.
5. I like to cook. Roasting, baking, frying. Doesn’t matter. Preparing food is one of my less destructive pleasures.
Mat and Iain - over to you…
Oh and my tag is Mark Hancock

Leo - I never knew you played the trumpet… I don’t recall the Che Guevera Performance Centre but do remember Dirk Moses and other young labour people - half of them are now running the Queensland Government behind the scenes while the other lot run the Federal Government. Julian Scheezal’s name popped up a lot in Liberal Party ads here in Victoria - where he is the party president. In all those years I don’t think I have ever eaten a meal you cooked either.
