…I’m sorry, i’m sorry, i’m sorry. That was a terrible pun. But, before you think i’m a complete chump and stop reading - don’t!

Horsesmouth
has the potential for brilliance.

Horsesmouth.co.uk is a social media ‘mentoring’ site owned and run by The Horses Mouth Foundation and attempts to unite mentors with mentees. Sounds odd? Well, put it like this: its like The Samaritans, but online. In their own words horsesmouth.co.uk is…

where social networking meets social enterprise; where personal contributions create public value; where human capital is unlocked to create social capital. It’s social networking with a purpose. It’s social networking for grown-ups. We call it the wisdomocracy.

Ok, so that sounds woefully crass and full of empty promise. But bear with the idea and check out the website, It has the potential (and I stress potential) to help a lot of people in a lot of ways (from illness to depression, career advice to inspiration). Moroever, I can imagine the big playes in mentoring help (such as Childline, The Samiritans et al) all getting involved in the next few years. Within a month horsesmouth.co.uk has 20,000 people signed up - not bad going at all.

Apparently horsesmouth isn’t the first with score.org, Micromentor and Imantri being amongst the first.

So after the horror of discovering Bragster last week my faith in Social Media has been restored - hurrah!

    “we call it the wisdomocracy”

that’s the worst thing I’ve heard since Mountain Dew’s ” DEWmocracy”

And it’s not democracy at all, its internet dating.
