A while ago… more than a year, I wrote a loosely barbed post about what I percieved to be a a foolish web 2.0 enterprise named Bragster wherein people set daring bets with each other and then film the hi-larious proof of the bet being completed and post it to the site.
Fast forward to today and someone has responded to the post saying
The jokes on you. Bragster is still going strong, with several highly active members like myself!
If ‘Matt J’ (my erstwhile commentor) is not employed by Bragster then he is a great example of an advocate defending his beloved brand.
…Sadly the joke is on Matt J for despite his claims of a healthy and flourishing Bragster I tried to visit the site today only to be served a ‘Network Timeout’ message. Oops.
I feel the tone of this post is egregiously triumphant for the what I have come to expect from the good people at RMM
Yeah yeah, kick us while we’re down why don’t you… We’re having some issues today, but we are still around, still growing and still commanding attention from users like ‘Matt J’ (who is not an employee). Unfortunately, our app server’s not too happy about that today…
Come check the site out tomorrow, as we should be back up and running by then. Feel free to email me if you’ve got a question or want us to make you take a tabasco shot and then snort a shot of tequila.

In response to you both I have the following words:
I think perhaps you’re right Charles: I should have spent less time being a smart-ass and more time discussing what had, in my mind at any rate, been the point of the post – that a brand advocate had made a significant effort to defend a brand he feels strongly about. Sadly my attention was diverted at the irony of Bragster not actually being online.
I’m glad to see that Brittney is indeed correct and that Bragster is back online. I’m also glad to hear that Matt J is a genuine advocate. Further more i’m pleased to see Brittney comment on this post – a great example of a brand monitoring their buzz and actively commenting and setting right misinformation. As to snorting Tequila shots however, i’m afraid i’ll have to pass; i prefer intravenously administered cognac.
