Creative Commons

We’ve been interested in the use of Creative Commons for a while and have finally got the opportunity to work with it on the Sony Blu-ray campaign. As a part of the communications program we have released the advert campaign assets under an Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license.

By doing this we are allowing consumers to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work and to Remix — to adapt the work under the following conditions:

  • Attribution. The conditions are that they must attribute the work (but not in any way that suggests that we endorse them or their use of the work).
  • Noncommercial. They may not use this work for commercial purposes.
  • Share Alike. If they alter, transform, or build upon this work, they may distribute the resulting work but only under the same or similar license to this one.

For any reuse or distribution, they must make clear to others the license terms of this work. The best way to do this is with a link to this web page: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

Any of the above conditions can be waived if they get permission from the copyright holder.
Nothing in this license impairs or restricts the author’s moral rights.

Obviously with all of the variables it’ll be impossible to see if releasing this under CC has any impact on the level of usage but interesting to see if there’s commentary.
