So, we won’t. However, this article about Karl Rove adopting twitter piqued my interest and, more importantly is oh so very much about the Social Media we love here at R*M. My thoughts on political tweeting after the jump…
I’m cool with politicians tweeting in just the same way as i’m cool with brands tweeting. That is to say; its all good so long as they are -say it with me- transparent. Karl Rove, as the mighty Beast confirms, is being just that open, honest, friendly and transparent. Importantly, however, this doesn’t mean he’s not promoting his own political views. He’s not worried about pissing people off with his political views – which is cool; everyone is entitled to an opinion, but importantly he’s respecting the Twitterverse and how it works (or how it should work when its working well) by following people who follow him, responding to replies and generally being a good Tweeter. You may not agree with his politics but at least he’s meeting the unclean masses head on and talking to them. Now, if only some UK politicians could pull their fingers out and rock the Tweet…
