Sharing One’s Living Proof message through social media

I was fortunate enough to attend the launch of One’s Living Proof campaign at the Science Museum – the organisation co-founded by U2′s Bono.

Presented by Bill and Melinda Gates, the event highlighted some of wonderful progress that’s been made over the last decade in fighting global poverty.

Jamie Drummond, One’s Executive Director, opened the event, and laid down an interesting question – if there’s all this great development happening, why isn’t the good news spreading? Why aren’t people aware of some of phenomenal change that it’s delivering – did you know that polio has been eradicated from all but four countries in the world?

The challenge laid down was to spread an “epidemic of good news” and “get creative about how to tell it”. Clearly social media can play a significant part in supporting this, not just in terms of a quick and easy means of spreading a message very quickly, but by turning passive supporters into active, engaged participants through acts of sharing, co-creating and filtering information.

Of course, it helps that this is championing success and positive stories and through its nature is inherently sharing – so why not take a look at what Living Proof is all about and become a sharer yourself.
