Fame at last!

Finally my photos can get the recognition they deserve. I found this cute application from Dumpr mentioned in a post on Mark’s blog. It enables you to have your flickr photos displayed in famous galleries around the world. Sort of.

Asi also has a nice piece on his blog about a flickr project and the quest for UGF (user generated fame).

This is a fine app indeed!

There are 2 different notions in relation to UGC (actually there are dozens but lets stick to two).

The quest for fame – in today’s celebrity-craze culture, where 2 bored chinese teenagers can become superstars (see YouTube for the chinese backstreet boys) a key motivation to upload something is indeed for the chance to be the next Brook, or Chantelle.

The quest for immotrality is somewhat different, more unconscious and and less obvious. Imagine you had access to your great-great grand father’s blog or personal diaries. Imagine your great-great-great grand child flicks through your blog (which by the time you’re gone will contain some good 20 years of writing, reflecting, commenting etc.

    interesting…
