Job description: social media account director
1.1 Background
RMM is a social media company. Since 2006 we have been helping businesses implement social technologies, participate in social media activities and define social working practices.
Our role is to help brands find ways to listen to, and learn from, online buzz and conversations, and to plan effective ways for them to become involved in these exchanges. We help them actively participate in social media environments by managing communities and building relationships with customers, prospects and influential media on their behalf. Finally, we measure the effect of these activities over time.
We work with some fun, interesting and challenging brands including Virgin Media, Samsung Mobile, InterCasino, Capgemini, Red Bull and the British Council.
We build our own tools and develop our own research papers in partnership with US & UK academic institutions.
Our head offices are situated on the South Bank in London. We have numerous partners and employees working with us across Europe, the US and Asia.
1.2 About the role
We are looking for someone to direct and manage our social media outreach and online media relations activity. This will involve: .
- Working with the team to develop social media strategies and initiatives for our clients
- Managing a team responsible for building relationships and engaging with communities, online media and key influencers
- Managing client relationships
- Networking and raising the profile of the agency amongst key online and technology media
1.3 About you
We’re looking for a person who:
- Is personally active in, and enjoys, social media
- Is a good, conversational writer
- Is a natural ‘people person’, and active industry networker through your previous agency, journalist or PR role
- Has previous experience in online media relations, or similar experience in a related profession (such as tech journalism)
- Has an entrepreneurial spirit, and would welcome the challenge of helping to build a small, fast-growing agency in a new and evolving market-place
- Can manage their time, and that of others, effectively
