Its no secret that solid metrics for podcasting are not easy to come by: Sure there are methods of working out download and subscription figures. Great. But how many of those downloads were actually viewed? This is a perennial question for the podcaster and until we have good metrcs on this podcasting will never make the big money.
After a bit of googling around it seems no one has yet had the common sense/inclination to go out and ask the people. As such I’m thinking about planning a survey at the heart of which resides one question:
How many of the podcasts that you download do you actually listen to/watch?
If I can survey a decent number of people with this question it might finally be possible to get a better idea as to what percentage of downlaods equates to listens/views.
Any input or thoughts on this little project would be greatly appreciated!!
Tough topic. Its taken me years to get my download/listen ratio close to 1:1 but the truth is I delete weak casts. Fluctuations and context. When I was ill I listened to any old rubbish as I had no radio. Good luck. I love podcasts. Melvyn Bragg is my heroin
