Presenting the ‘Monday Morning Metric’

This may or may not prove to be a successful initiative but since a) I’ve just found a useful metric I want to share with y’all and b) i really like the aliteration of ‘Monday Morning Metric’ I would like to announce the inaugural ‘Monday Morning Metric. (Cue excessive fan-fares…)

This Monday’s metric comes from eMarketer and represents the results of a survey of 1,554 18-30 year old US College students showing what they find to be the most effective forms of advertising. Check out a pretty red graph after the jump…

*Apologies for blurriness

So as you can clearly see it turns out WoM is the most useful type of advertising according to US college students. And would you believe it but it just so happens that social media is rather good at running word of mouth campaigns. Hell, in fact i’m gonna say it: Ryan*MacMillan are rather good at running word of mouth campaigns online! It is, afterall, part of what we do.

    - or – what we can see is that US college students *say* that WoM is the mosr useful type of advertising. What I want to know is what do they mean by ‘useful’? For what? When? And (most of all) to whom?

Love the idea of a Monday Morning Metric, though.
